- Any day you are feeling a bit sad, just think of this: At least your mom did not name you “Ewe”—that’s what a female sheep is called. In Ontario, we have more than 40 types of sheep.
- Baa baa black sheep, have you any protein? Yes sir, yes sir, vitamins and minerals too. Can you make up silly new words to this well-known song?

In one year, an ewe (female sheep) can produce enough wool to make:
- a) one pair of itchy but warm underwear
- b) a man’s suit
- c) a pair of socks
Answer: b
(An ewe can produce about 7 to 10 pounds of wool a year!)

It’s cool to visit a farm, but when you can’t do that, virtual farm tours from the Ontario Farm Animal Council and AgCare are pretty darn good. You can “visit” a sheep farm, a chicken farm and many other places. Remember this website for school projects!
