Warm Caramelized Apples

This easy skillet recipe is also good served warm over cake, crepes, pancakes, French toast or waffles.

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) butter
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cardamom or cinnamon
  • 4 Ontario apples, unpeeled, cored and cut into wedges
  • vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt
Preparation:

In large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and cardamom until sugar is dissolved. Add apples and cook, stirring gently, until tender but not mushy, 6 to 8 minutes (time will depend on type of apple). Serve warm over ice cream or frozen yogurt.
